Lawerence J. Gitman
Dr. Lawrence J. Gitman is an emeritus professor of finance at San Diego State University. He received his BA from Purdue University, an MBA from the University of Dayton, and a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. A prolific author, Professor Gitman has published more than 50 articles appearing in The Financial Review, Financial Management, Journal Of Financial Planning, Journal Of Risk And Insurance, Financial Services Review, Financial Practice And Education, Journal Of Financial Education, Journal Of Financial Research, and other scholarly publications. He has co-authored and authored numerous best-selling textbooks on various finance and business topics as well as investing. An active member of numerous professional organizations, Lawerence is past president of the Academy of Financial Services, the San Diego Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute, the FMA National Honor Society and the Midwest Finance Association, In addition, he is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
He formerly served as a director on the CFP Board of Governors,as director of the San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum and as a vice president of Financial Education for the Financial Management Association. Dr. Gitman has 2 children and lives with his wife in California.
Michael D. Joehnk
Dr. Michael D. Joehnk is an emeritus professor of finance at Arizona State University. Dr. Joehnk held academic positions at ASU as well as a year-long visiting professorship in finance at the University of Otago in New Zealand. He earned his M.B.A. from Arizona State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona.
He was a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) who served on the Council of Examiners and the Candidate Curriculum Committee of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts. As secretary-treasurer of the Western Finance Association and a director of the Phoenix Society of Financial Analysts, he also held these positions. Additionally, he won election to two terms as the Financial Management Association's vice president.
Dr. Joehnk also served as the editor of Institutional Asset Allocation, a journal published by Dow Jones-Irwin and supported by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts. Additionally, he contributed to Volume 1 of the Library of Investment Banking's Investing and Risk Management as well as the Handbook for Fixed Income Securities. Dr. Joehnk also held the position of executive co-editor for the Journal of Financial Research for six years.
Scott B. Smart
Dr. Scott B. Smart is a finance professor at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. He holds a BBA from Baylor University and an MA and PhD from Stanford. His research on corporate finance has appeared in top journals and been cited by major publications. A recipient of numerous teaching awards, he has been recognized as a top business school teacher. He has held visiting positions at the University of Otago and Stanford, and worked as a Visiting Scholar for Intel during the Dot-com boom.
