Charles T. Horngren

Dr. Charles T. Horngren (Died in 2011) was the Edmund W. Littlefield Emeritus Professor of Accounting at Stanford University. A graduate of Marquette University, he got his MBA from Harvard University and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Charles was also the recipient of honorary doctorates from DePaul University and Marquette University.

A certified public accountant, Dr. Horngren served on the Financial Accounting Standards Board Advisory Council for 5 years, the Accounting Principles Board for 6 years, and the Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for 3 years. For 6 years he served as a trustee of the Financial Accounting Foundation, which oversees the Government Accounting Standards Board and the Financial Accounting Standards Board. He is also a member of the Accounting Hall of Fame.

Dr. Horngren is an author of many accounting books including but not limited to Introduction to Financial Accounting, Introduction to Management Accounting, Cost Accounting: A Managerial Emphasis, Horngren’s Accounting and Horngren’s Financial & Managerial Accounting,
