Dr. Kenneth J. Peak is an emeritus professor and former chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Reno. He was named "Teacher of the Year" and has a diverse background, including four years as a municipal police officer and roles in criminal justice planning and university police. He authored 37 textbooks on policing, administration, and women's roles in law enforcement, and published over 60 journal articles. He held leadership positions in professional organizations, received gubernatorial appointments in Kansas, and earned his doctorate from the University of Kansas.

Tamara D. Herold

Dr.  Tamara D. Madensen-Herold is an associate professor of criminal justice and the graduate director at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She earned her doctorate from the University of Cincinnati and her research focuses on crime opportunity structures, place management, and crowd violence. Dr. Herold is honored to have received UNLV's Spanos Distinguished Teaching Award, Faculty Excellence Award, and the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs Teaching Award. Her publications aim to propose, extend, or test theoretical models in crime science, while also translating research findings into practical applications and policy. Her work has been featured in reputable journals, including Criminology and Justice Quarterly, and she has authored numerous practitioner-oriented research papers. Among her notable contributions are two Problem-Oriented Policing Guides supported by the COPS Office and research monographs that were finalists for the prestigious Herman Goldstein Excellence in Problem-Oriented Policing Award. Additionally, her co-edited book, Preventing Crowd Violence (with Johannes Knutsson), has been translated into two foreign languages.
