The diversity of species that live in aquatic ecosystems is the current focus of Relyea's research.

Robert E. Ricklefs

This landmark textbook helped to define introductory ecology courses for over four decades. Ecology: The Economy of Nature, 8th Edition, (PDF) maintains its signature evolutionary perspective and emphasis on the quantitative aspects of the field, but it has been improved for today’s undergraduates—with extensive new pedagogy, including Concept Checks, Learning Goals, fresh examples and completely integrated media resources. College and University students will especially appreciate the new video tutorials that complement the Analyzing Ecology essays.
