Vanessa Ratten

Dr. Vanessa Ratten is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Department of Management at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. She teaches Managing Innovation in Organisations, Entrepreneurial Business Planning, and Entrepreneurship. She has previously been on the business faculty of the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, Duquesne University and Deakin University (Australia).

Vanessa got a PhD from the University of Queensland, which focused on the role of organisational learning in the Information and Communication Technology industry.

 

Entrepreneurship is the outcome of various contextual factors in the community, which are molded by social challenges and business needs. Current research efforts have focused on the dynamics of communities and how they aid entrepreneurship among a diverse group of people and organizations.

Entrepreneurship and the Community (PDF) highlights research on the significance of communities and their role in providing an entrepreneurial ecosystem that encourages innovation and business activities. Adopting a multidisciplinary perspective, it studies what it takes to create an entrepreneurial community that promotes creativity.
