Eugene F. Brigham

Professor Eugene F. Brigham is Graduate Research Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida, where he has been teaching since 1971. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and his MBA and Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley. Prior to joining the University of Florida, Dr. Eugene held teaching positions at the University of Wisconsin, the University of Connecticut, and the University of California-Los Angeles. A former president of the Financial Management Association, Brigham has written many journal articles on the cost of capital, capital structure and other aspects of financial management. He has co-authored or authored ten textbooks on managerial economics and managerial finance that are used at more than 1,000 universities in the United States and have been translated into 11 languages around the world. In addition to his academic writing, Eugene continues to consult, teach and complete research. He has served as a consultant to many government agencies and corporations, including the Federal Reserve Board, the U.S. Office of Telecommunications Policy, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, and the RAND Corp., and he has testified as an expert witness in numerous gas, electric and telephone rate cases at both state and federal levels. Professor Brigham spends his spare time on the golf course, enjoying time with his dogs and family, and tackling outdoor adventure activities.

Phillip R. Daves

Dr. Phillip R. Daves holds the associate professor of finance position at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. His research interests cover various topics, including healthcare finance, asset pricing, derivative securities, and dividend policy. He has published numerous papers in reputable journals such as The Journal of Finance, The International Journal of Finance, Applied Financial Economics, the Journal of Financial Practice and Education, and The Journal of Financial and Strategic Decisions.

Dr. Daves earned his B.A. in economics from Davidson College, his M.S. in mathematics, and his Ph.D. in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

His teaching interests include healthcare finance, investments, financial management, and asset pricing. He also provides consulting services to a diverse range of large and small companies and the state of Tennessee. His consulting expertise primarily focuses on business valuation, compensation, value-based management, and healthcare policy.
