About The Author

Catherine E. Myers

Catherine E. Myers

Professor Catherine Myers is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neuroscience at the New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers University. She is also a Research Scientist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, New Jersey Health Care System.

Dr. Myers' research includes both experimental psychology and computational neuroscience, and focuses on human learning and memory, especially in clinical disorders such as amnesia and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She is the author of Delay Learning in Artificial Neural Networks and the co-author of Gateway to Memory: An Introduction to Neural Network Modeling of the Hippocampus and Learning.

Eduardo Mercado

Eduardo Mercado

Dr. Eduardo Mercado is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University at Buffalo, New York. His research focuses on how different brain systems interact to develop representations of experienced events, and how these representations change over time. Ed currently uses techniques from computational neuroscience, electrical engineering, experimental psychology, and behavioral neuroscience to explore questions about auditory learning and memory in rodents, cetaceans, and humans.

Mark A. Gluck

Mark A. Gluck

Dr. Mark A. Gluck is a co-director of the Memory Disorders Project at Rutgers Newark, a Professor of Neuroscience at Rutgers University Newark, and publisher of the project's public health newsletter, Memory Loss and the Brain. His research focuses on the neural bases of learning and memory, and the consequences of memory loss due to trauma, aging, and disease. He is also the co-author of Gateway to Memory: An Introduction to Neural Network Modeling of the Hippocampus and Learning.

Mark was awarded an NSF Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers by President Bill Clinton. That same year, Dr. Gluck got the American Psychological Association (APA) Distinguish Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology.

Gluck, Mercado, and Myers’ breakthrough first edition brought a long-overdue modern perspective to the learning and memory textbook. It was the first ebook for the course developed from page one to account for the growing importance of neuroscience in the field, the first to compare brain studies and behavioral approaches in human and other animal species, and the first available in full-color throughout.

Rigorously updated, with a convenient new modular format, Learning and Memory: From Brain to Behavior, 2nd edition (PDF), is unmatched at showing college students where the study of learning and memory is and where it is heading. Requiring no prerequisite coursework, it connects memory, learning, and neuroscience in a way that fits your classroom.
