Jeff received his B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago in 1972 and his Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1976. He was previously an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania.

A problem-based approach that employs real-world issues and examples from actual markets

Perloff and Brander’s Managerial Economics and Strategy, 3rd Edition, (PDF) uses modern theories, business examples, and real data to show how economic principles impact business decisions. Coverage of contract theory, game theory, behavioral economics, and pricing tools, together with economic problem sets and techniques on how to solve them, are particularly useful to future managers. With new discussions, mini-cases, and exercises in the latest 3rd Edition, students are well-trained to apply what they’ve learned in the text and class to their decision-making in the real world.
