About The Author

Sergio Oller

Numerical Simulation of Mechanical Behavior of Composite Materials, 2015th Edition, (PDF) is intended for graduate engineering students who want to improve their knowledge of composite structures behavior.

An innovative mechanical formulation to treat nonlinear orthotropic behavior of composite materials is offered in this ebook. It also studies different formulations that allow us to evaluate the behavior of composite materials through the composition of its components, gaining a new composite material. Similarly, two multiple-scale homogenization methods are given, one based on the analytical study of the cells (Ad-hoc homogenization) and another one, more common based on the finite element procedure applied in the micro-scale (sub-scale) and on the macro scale (upper-scale). A very general formulation to mimic the mechanical behavior for traditional composite structures (plywood, reinforced concrete, masonry, etc.), along with the new composite materials reinforced with short and long fibers, nanotubes, etc., are also presented in this ebook.

Usual phenomena occurring in composite materials are also defined in this work, along with fiber-matrix debonding, local buckling of fibers, and its coupling with the total buckling of the structure. Lastly, several numerical examples that assess the qualities and capabilities of the general model formulated are offered in this ebook.
