About The Author

James E. Curtis

Lorne Tepperman

Lorne Tepperman

Dr. Lorne Tepperman is a researcher who focuses on families and health-related family issues, as well as deviance and social control. Since 1970, he has taught sociology at the University of Toronto, where he also served as chair from 1997 to 2003 and as Director of the Health Studies Program from 2005 to 2007. He has mostly focused on authoring textbooks for undergraduates studying family, social inequality, social problems, deviance, and other sociological topics in recent years.

Tepperman's purpose is to make sociological literature as accessible as possible while staying away from oversimplification. He has also authored books for the general public on social inequity, compulsive gambling, and sociology's historic goals for similar reasons.

Patrizia Albanese

Principles of Sociology: Canadian Perspectives, 3rd edition, (PDF) is a brief introduction to sociological theory and Canadian society. In this contributed ebook, experts from across Canada carefully connect core concepts and theory with the latest research, historical events, and
life-course examples to build a rich learning experience.

Dedicated to a fresh and contemporary perspective, the new and established specialist contributors flawlessly merge issues shaping Canadian society with those influencing the global community.

New theme boxes examine the links between technology, new media, and social behaviors and introduce students to the newest research trends in sociology. Moreover, an expanded discussion of feminist and postmodernist thought and a revamped chapter on sociological theory build on the strong foundation of prior editions.

This new edition maintains the sophistication, writing style, thorough pedagogy, Canadian themes, international scope, and readability that professors and students have praised in past editions. Engaging and comprehensive, Principles of Sociology: Canadian Perspectives 3e is the perfect resource for first-year students beginning their undergraduate studies in sociology.
