About The Author

Beth Morling

Beth Morling

Dr. Beth Morling focuses on both cultural psychology research and undergraduate teaching. She regularly teaches courses on cultural psychology, the self-concept, research methods, and the teaching of psychology. Beth's most recent scholarly research has focused on how culture shapes social life and human motivation, as well as where cultural differences are located and measured―whether within the person, or in cultural products such as texts, media, or buildings.

Dr. Morling is a Fulbright scholar, having lectured and conducted research in Kyoto, Japan during 2010–2011. She is the Delaware State Professor of the Year (2014), an award from Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and CASE.

Drawing on examples from popular media and journals, expert author Beth Morling inspires a love of her subject in Research Methods in Psychology: Evaluating a World of Information 3rd edition (PDF) by emphasizing its relevance. Yes, college students learn how to design research studies but also see the value of evaluating research claims they encounter daily. The 3rd Edition builds on this successful foundation by providing new ways for students to practice what they learn.

NEW ‘Working It Through’ examples provide a step-by-step method for evaluating claims start-to-finish, and a NEW adaptive learning tool, InQuizitive, enables psychology students to practice what they’ve learned and strengthen their comprehension.
