John D. DeLamater

Dr. John D. DeLamater is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His current research and writing are focused on the effects of life-course transitions on sexuality. He is the one who created the human sexuality course at the University of Wisconsin in 1975 and has since taught it regularly. He is a Fellow of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and the 2002 recipient of the Kinsey Award from the Society for Career Contributions to Sex Research.

Written by well-known sociologists John D. DeLamater, Daniel J. Myers, and Jessica L. Collett, this fully revised and updated Social Psychology, 8th Edition (PDF) is a highly accessible and engaging exploration of the question “what is it that makes us who we are?” Grounded in the latest contemporary research, the book also explains the methods in which social psychologists investigate human behavior in a social context and the theoretical perspectives that ground the discipline.

With hundreds of real-world examples, tables, figures, and photographs, the textbook Social Psychology, 8E, explores such topics as self, attitudes, social influence, emotions, interpersonal attraction and relationships, collective behavior, and personality. Each chapter is designed to be a self-contained unit for ease of use in any classroom, beginning with focal questions that establish the issues being discussed and ending with a summary of key points, a list of key terms and concepts, and critical thinking questions.
