Margaret Jordan Halter

Dr. Margaret J. Halter, PhD, APRN, joined Ashland University. She has 21 years of academic experience as an associate professor at the University of Akron and a full professor at Malone University. She received a BSN at the University of Akron in 1986, an MSN in psychiatric mental health nursing from Kent State University, and a PhD from Duquesne University.

Her teaching expertise includes graduate health policy and advanced practice psychiatric mental health nursing. She is the editor of Varcarolis and Halter’s  Foundations of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, co-edited Essentials of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, and contributed numerous chapters to both textbooks.

Peggy received the American Journal of Nursing 2009 Book of the Year Award for Essentials of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, an Excellence in Media Award from the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, an Outstanding Faculty Engagement Award from the University of Akron, and an Excellence in Political Action Award from the Ohio Nurses Association.
