Ronet D. Bachman

Dr. Ronet Bachman is a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. She is author of numerous books, articles and papers that examine the epidemiology and etiology of violence, with a particular emphasis on the elderly, women, and minority populations. Her most recent federally funded research examines the desistance trajectories of drug-involved offenders 10 years after release from prison using a mixed-method design.

Violence: The Enduring Problem, 3rd edition, (PDF) provides an interdisciplinary and reader-friendly exploration of the patterns and correlations of individual and collective violent acts using the most contemporary research, theories, and cases. Responding to the fear of extensive violence in the world, authors Alex Alvarez and Ronet Bachman address the various legislative, political and social efforts to curb violent behavior. They expertly include a wide range of the most current cases to help readers interpret the nature and dynamics of a variety of different, yet connected, forms of violence. However, most textbooks of this type simply cover individual acts of violence, this ebook offers readers a broader perspective, encompassing more collective violence activities such as terrorism, mob violence, and genocide.
