Dr. Alex Alvarez is a professor in criminology and criminal justice at Northern Arizona University. He was the director of the Martin-Springer Institute for Teaching the Holocaust from 2001-2003. He has published several books including Governments, Citizens, and Genocide, Murder American Style, Genocidal Crimes, Native America and the Question of Genocide, and Unsteady Ground: Climate Change, Conflict, and Genocide. He has also served as an editor for various journals and has been invited to speak and present his research in North America and Europe.e.

Dr. Ronet Bachman is a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. She is author of numerous books, articles and papers that examine the epidemiology and etiology of violence, with a particular emphasis on the elderly, women, and minority populations. Her most recent federally funded research examines the desistance trajectories of drug-involved offenders 10 years after release from prison using a mixed-method design.
