Dr. Jesse John Feist (deceased) was a prominent American professor of psychology and author. Hailing from Spearville, Kansas, he distinguished himself in both athletics and academics, achieving a B.A. from St. Mary of the Plains College, an M.A. from Wichita State University, and an Ed.D. from the University of Kansas. Dr. Feist devoted his career to McNeese State University, where he chaired the Psychology Department for 17 years and received the esteemed Distinguished Professor Award. He co-authored several influential psychology textbooks, such as Theories of Personality and Health Psychology, which are widely utilized in the field. A passionate sports enthusiast, Dr. Feist enjoyed running, golfing, and was a dedicated fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He shared 51 years of marriage with Mary Jo McComb, with whom he raised five children, including Professor Gregory Feist, also a psychology professor and best-selling author.. After retiring in 2006, he was honored with the title of Professor Emeritus in 2007.
