Lester Rowntree

Dr. Lester Rowntree is a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, where he conducts environmental studies and writes. This job transition comes after three decades of teaching Geography and Environmental Studies at California's San Jose State University.

Dr. Les Rowntree's interests as an environmental geographer include worldwide environmental challenges, biodiversity conservation, and human-caused global change.
He sees world regional geography as a way to engage and inform students by providing them with the conceptual tools they need to evaluate global challenges critically.
Dr. Rowntree has conducted studies in Iceland, Alaska, Mexico, Australia, Morocco, and Europe, in addition to his home state of California.

Marie Price

Dr. Marie D> Price is a Geography and International Affairs Professor at George Washington University. A Latin American specialist, Dr. Price, has researched Belize, Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, Cuba, and Bolivia. She has also traveled widely throughout Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her studies have explored human migration, natural resource use, environmental conservation, and sustainability.

In 2016 she became the President of the American Geographical Society, the country's oldest national geography organization dedicated to advancing geographic research for a more sustainable future. Dr. Price brings to Diversity Amid Globalization a particular interest in regions as dynamic spatial constructs shaped over time through global and local forces. Her publications include the co-edited book Migrants to the Metropolis: The Rise of Immigrant Gateway Cities and numerous academic articles and book chapters.
