About The Author

Carl S. Warren

Dr. Carl S. Warren is Professor Emeritus of Accounting at the University of Georgia, Athens. Dr. Carl has taught classes at the Michigan State University, University of Iowa, University of Georgia, and University of Chicago. He focused his teaching efforts on principles of auditing and accounting. Dr. Carl received his PhD from Michigan State University and his MA and BBA from the University of Iowa. During his career, Carl published numerous articles in professional journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, The CPA Journal, Journal of Accountancy, and Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory.

Carl has served on numerous committees of the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Internal Auditors. Dr. Warren also has consulted with numerous companies and public accounting firms. His outside interests include handball, golf, skiing, backpacking, and fly-fishing.

Jefferson P. Jones

Jefferson P. Jones

Dr. Jeff Jones joined Auburn University in 1997 after completing his Ph.D. at Florida State University. His research interests include the use of fair value in accounting measurements, the quality and usefulness of accounting information, and accounting education. He has published many articles in Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, the Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance, Advances in Accounting, the Journal of Accounting and Finance Research, Issues in Accounting Education, the CPA Journal, the International Journal of Forecasting, and the Ohio CPA Journal. His research has been presented at both annual and regional meetings of various professional associations including the American Academy of Accounting and Finance and the American Accounting Association. His research efforts have earned him recognition through receipt of the College of Business Outstanding Researcher Award.

Jeff currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in financial accounting and applied professional research. He has received the School of Accountancy Outstanding Teacher Award, the Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Honorary Outstanding Teacher Award (twice), the College of Business McCartney Teaching Award, and the On-Campus Master of Accountancy Outstanding Professor Award (three times), and the Distance Master of Accountancy Outstanding Professor Award. He is currently a co-author of the textbook, Intermediate Accounting, and Cornerstones of Financial Accounting 2e, both published by South-Western. He is also a CPA and a member of the AAA and AICPA

William B. Tayler

William B. Tayler

Dr. William Tayler joined the Marriott School of Business in 2012. Bill (William) teaches in BYU’s School of Accountancy as well as in BYU’s Executive MBA program. Bill has also taught at Cornell University and Emory University and has received multiple teaching awards. He is a Certified Management Accountant specializing in healthcare research and consulting, professional judgment and decision making, performance measurement, the assignment of decision rights, incentive compensation, and cost accounting. His work has been published in top journals, including Accounting, Organizations and Society, The Accounting Review, Accounting Horizons, Contemporary Accounting Research, Diabetes Spectrum, Harvard Business Review, Journal of the American Medical Association-Internal Medicine, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Behavioral Finance, IMA Educational Case Journal, Journal of Finance, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Review of Financial Studies, and Strategic Finance.
