David S. Kidwell

Dr. DAVID S. KIDWELL (1940-2019) was a Professor of Finance and Dean Emeritus at the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management. With over 30 years in financial education, he was Dean at the University of Minnesota and the University of Connecticut. He held endowed chairs in banking and finance at Tulane University, the University of Tennessee, and Texas Tech University. At Purdue University, he received accolades as an outstanding undergraduate teacher. An expert on the U.S. financial system, Dr. Kidwell authored over 80 articles in leading journals and participated in National Science Foundation research on capital market efficiency and government regulations. He also consulted for Coopers & Lybrand and worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Dr. Kidwell served on numerous boards, including for the Schwan Food Company and AACSB, and was involved in the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from California State University at San Diego, an MBA from California State University at San Francisco, and a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Oregon.
