Harold G. Koenig

Dr. Harold Koenig completed his undergraduate education at Stanford, medical school at the University of California, and training in geriatric medicine, psychiatry, and biostatistics at Duke University Medical Center. He is board certified in general and geriatric psychiatry and medicine, serving as Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke and Distinguished Adjunct Professor at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. He is a registered nurse and Director of the Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health at Duke, with over 350 peer-reviewed articles and nearly 40 books. Considered a top expert on religion and health, his research has appeared on major TV programs and in numerous publications. He has testified before the U.S. Senate (1998) and House of Representatives (2008) on the health benefits of religion and spirituality. His latest books include Faith and Mental Health (2005) and Spirituality and Health Research (2011).
