She did her Ph.D. from the Colorado State University, Fort Collins in Education and Human Resource Studies. Jean has numerous awards under her belt including but not limited to: Distinguished Alumni Award, School of Nursing, University of El Paso, 2015, and the Mary Killeen Visiting Scholar for Educational Excellence, College of Nursing, Arizona State University 2015. She was also an Honorary Visiting Professor at the University College Dublin, Ireland from 2014 till 2019.
