Alice C. Murr (BSN, RN) is a retired clinical nurse and a prolific medical author who has co-authored standard nursing reference textbooks for over 25 years. She is best known for her collaboration with Marilynn E. Doenges and Mary Frances Moorhouse on widely used clinical guides.

Marilynn E. Doenges

Marilynn Elizabeth Doenges (late) was honored as a Living Legend at the Women’s War Memorial in Washington DC after serving as an Army nurse in Europe during WW II. Upon returning, she balancd nursing, family, and education, becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Specialist. In 1982, she became a pioneer in nursing care plans using an early computer and embraced NANDA Nursing Diagnosis, revolutionizing care plan creation. Alongside partners Mary Frances Moorhouse and Alice C. Murr, she authored numerous nursing textbooks and manuals, receiving several “Book of the Year” accolades. Her works, translated into fifteen languages, significantly advanced nursing literature. Marilynn also opened a private counseling practice, applying standardized nursing language for documentation and billing. She spread knowledge about nursing diagnoses globally and stayed dedicated to her work until the end, sharing her books with hospice nurses.
