Dr. Christopher E. Heil is an Assistant Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the author of numerous research papers and books, including the best-selling Thomas Calculus by Pearson Publishers.

George Thomas

George B. Thomas, Jr. (late) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), was a professor of mathematics for 38 years; he served as the executive officer of the department for 10 years and as graduate registration officer for 5 years. Thomas held a spot on the board of governors of the Mathematical Association of America and on the executive committee of the mathematics division of the American Society for Engineering Education. His textbook, Calculus and Analytic Geometry, was first published in 1951 and has since gone through multiple revisions. The textbook is now in its 12th edition and continues to guide college students through their calculus courses. He also co-authored monographs on mathematics, including the textbook Probability and Statistics.

Joel R. Hass

Joel R. Hass

Dr. Joel Hass received his PhD from the University of California Berkeley. He is currently a professor of mathematics at the University of California Davis. Joel has coauthored widely used calculus texts as well as calculus study guides. He is currently on the editorial board of several publications, including the Notices of the American Mathematical Society. Dr. Hass has been a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University and of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, and he was a Sloan Research Fellow. Joel’s current areas of research include the geometry of proteins, applied mathematics, three dimensional manifolds,and computational complexity. In his free time, Joel enjoys kayaking.

Maurice D. Weir

Maurice D. Weir

Professor Maurice D. Weir, Professor Emeritus at the Department of Applied Mathematics, Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Sciences of Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. His awards include the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal, USMA, awarded in 1986 and the Schieffelin Award for Excellence in Teaching, NPS, awarded in 1983.

Dr. Weir research interests were in Mathematics Education, and Combat Systems Modeling and Simulation.
