Yunus A. Cengel

Yunus A. Cengel

Dr. Yunus A. Çengel is Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno. He got his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Istanbul Technical University (Turkey) and his M.S. and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University. His areas of interest are energy efficiency, energy policies, heat transfer enhancement, renewable energy, and engineering education. He was the director of the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) at the University of Nevada, Reno, from 1996 to 2000.

He has led teams of engineering students to numerous manufacturing facilities in Northern Nevada and California to perform industrial assessments. He has prepared energy conservation, waste minimization, and productivity enhancement reports for them. He has also served as an advisor for various government organizations and corporations.

Cengel and Cimbala’s Fluid Mechanics: Fundamentals and Applications, Fifth Edition (2024) speaks directly to the engineers of tomorrow with clarity and precision, presenting fundamental principles and equations of fluid mechanics through a rich array of real-world engineering examples. This text cultivates an intuitive grasp of fluid mechanics by highlighting the underlying physics supported by numerous figures, photographs, and visual aids, significantly enhancing students’ learning experience.

What sets this ebook apart is its unique instructional approach, systematically progressing from fundamental concepts to more complex topics, ensuring that each chapter builds on the knowledge established in previous ones. This method allows students to tackle even the traditionally challenging facets of fluid mechanics with confidence and ease.

Moreover, McGraw-Hill Education’s Connect is available as an optional enhancement. This innovative learning system is designed to adapt continuously to meet students’ specific needs, making classroom time more productive. Connect facilitates effortless assignment of homework, quizzes, and tests while automatically grading and recording students’ performance. By randomizing problem sets to discourage answer sharing and incorporating “multi-step solutions,” it provides additional support to college students facing difficulties, furthering their learning journey.
